We want to get the debate flowing about how you really feel about the relevance of the way science is taught in schools and its significance to your career. Its time to stand up and be counted. I mean, think about it, have you every wondered about the science behind iPods, computer games, cooking? Lets think about Darwin, is he relevant to you?
We want to discuss real world Science!
more science experiments would be my vote. lots of theory and textbooks, but not enough hands on imho.
I think that Science is something that can be enjoyed in different ways but it’s difficult to make someone try an activity related to it if they’re already prejudiced against the subject. I’m not big on Science but there are things that interest me about it – for example, Darwinism, the creation of man and the universe, etc. These theories mean that I can debate with my friends and it’s unlikely that we’ll all have the same opinion – it’s important to be able to see other people’s views like this. Of course Darwin’s relevant to me! I’ve learnt enough about him to be interested in what he’s got to say (or had to say) and I’m sure other people of my age-group will feel the same way. Theories on evolution and how the world has changed since its creation are so many that it’s impossible for it to be nothing to do with you. We’re all here, therefore we’re all linked to these theories and their respective consequences.
That’s just my view though and I wouldn’t pursue a career that was directly to Science, simply because I am more interested in other areas. This doesn’t mean I can’t still enjoy it.
